Overview

The "Eva Game O-Giri" is a mini-game contest that aims to share the joy of making video games with people all over the world.To enter, use the Unity game engine to create an Evangelion-themed game as a tribute to the upcoming release of the new "EVANGELION:3.0 +1.0" film.The winning entry will be determined through rigorous evaluation by our "Eva Game O-Giri" Judges Panel.

Please read the following information before applying.

Criteria for Judging

As the contest name "O-Giri" implies, entries that are fun and demonstrate outside-of-the-box thinking will be evaluated highly. Ogiri is a type of Japanese contest format where contestants vie to produce the most interesting answers based on a given theme. The video quality of entries will have no bearing on judging.

Grand Prize

Release of the winning game on the official Evangelion app "EVA-EXTRA"
Narration of the game title and creator’s name by the Eva voice cast
Announcement of the winning entry on relevant social media accounts, including Eva-Info
Announcements of this contest in theaters are still up in the air. At present, we are continuing to think about places where we can announce it. Be looking for it!

Entry Specifications

●Enter with an “Evangelion”-themed game.
●Create your game using the Unity game engine ver. 2019.3.15f1 and the project file provided.
 ・About the scenes:
  -Number of Scenes: At most, three (3)
  -Inside the template project, you will find Scene (Title, Stage, Stage Second). Please update these to make your game.
  -Please do not change the names on the scenes.
  -For scene transitions, please use the following method:
   Title: SceneManager.LoadScene(0)
   Stage: SceneManager.LoadScene(1)
   Stage Second: SceneManager.LoadScene(2)
 ・Please do not use tags.
 ・Please do not change the settings on the Input Manager.
 ・When creating your script, please be certain to use a namespace in the project name.
 ・Please do not change anything under the Resources folder.
 ・Please do not put anything in the folder marked StreamingAssets.
 ・Please do not make a custom shader.
 ・Size: Please keep your project to approximately 800 MB or less (this is just a guide)

●Game elements used are restricted to original content you create yourself or elements you have the creator’s permission to use.
Use of official elements, including video from “Evangelion” or artwork, sound, voice recordings, or sound effects from the merchandising website, is strictly prohibited.
●Regarding graphic elements:
You may create and use graphics based on the setting and characters of “Evangelion” for the purposes of your game for entry into the “Eva Game O-Giri” contest only.
We recommend using Pen Pen, an angel, the Test Type Unit-01, and other non-human characters.
Scrutiny of games using human characters will be strict, so using them raises the hurdle to win!
●Regarding music:
The only “Evangelion”-related music element you may create and use is an arrangement of “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis.” Other music from the series may not be used even if it is an original arrangement.
If you use a hosting site to post your game and video in order to enter the contest, you must abide by the rules of use for the site.
If there is interest, we will release the BGM arrangement of “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis” used in “Pen Pen’s Antarctic Adventure.” You may use this for your game, but other uses and redistribution are strictly prohibited.

●Regarding dialog from the series:
You may use a sentence of dialog at a time in limited quantity.
Use above this level is not allowed.
Releasing the game (publication) prior to the announcement of the contest results is prohibited.
●Regarding release of the game by the creator:
Unauthorized release (publication) of games made for entry into the contest is prohibited. After the announcement of the “Eva Game O-Giri” contest results, games that have been authorized may be released publicly for the period of 1 year.
If you plan to release your game publicly, indicate on the form which platform you will use to release it.
Charging money for your game, commercial use, and release for promotional purposes are prohibited.
Only the creator of the game may release it. Distribution by third parties is not allowed.
※Multiple entries are allowed. However, you must submit each entry separately.
※We cannot reply to inquiries regarding selection.

How to apply

Include the following information via the entry form to enter (Entry form set to open soon):
・Game title
Example: “Center on target, pull the trigger.” or ”Throwing the Spear of Longinus”
・Game description (Around 50 words)
Example 1: A game where you position the target in the center, then pull the trigger
Example 2: A game where you throw the Spear of Longinus as far as you can
・The URL to a video that shows the gist of your game
Setting the video for your entry to be viewable by anyone besides the "Eva Game O-Giri" Judges Panel is prohibited. Please set up a closed link to limit access to only those with the link.
We will indicate when you may make your video public at a later date.

Prepare a compressed file in .zip format containing the two items above.

Important Notes

・Use of the characters and setting of "Evangelion" is permitted only in the creation of games for entry into the "Eva Game O-Giri" contest.
・Commercial use of games submitted for entry into "Eva Game O-Giri" is prohibited.
・Redistribution by a third party is prohibited.
・Content that damages the reputation of the original series or determined to run contrary to the public good (e.g., injury to human characters, violence including blood, or portrayals of sex, etc.) are not permitted.
・Entries that appear to be the work or advertisement of an existing organization are not permitted.
・Any issues that arise in creation and posting of the game must be resolved by the applicant. Such matters shall not concern the original creators of “Evangelion” or the Indies Live Expo.
・Copyright for “Evangelion” resides with the original creators.
※Entries that infringe upon the copyright or other rights of third parties will be disqualified. In the event that infringement on such rights occurs and a third party incurs damages, all responsibility lies with the applicant.
※Entries may be released on the EVA-EXTRA app, as well as publicized at events and elsewhere online.

Terms of Participation

khara, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as the “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) will hold the event “Eva Game Oogiri” (hereinafter referred to as the “Contest”). Posters shall agree to this Terms of Participation before participating in the Contest.
1. Object of the Contest
The object of the Contest is all the posted works submitted to us through the posting form on our homepage.
2. Posted Works
Posted works are limited to only those which posters create by themselves and of which they have all the rights. If a work is created by multiple persons, please make sure that their representative will be chosen and post the work after obtaining consent to the Terms of Participation from all of them. If a poster is a minor, the poster must obtain the consent to his/her participation in the Contest of his/her statutory agent such as his/her guardian in advance. A minor poster will be deemed to have obtained such consent.
Judges will not consider the following works:
-works which do not abide by this Terms of Participation and
-works which the Company judges as inappropriate.
Also, a posted work (whether it is a game, movie, etc.) is prohibited from being made public without our approval.
3. Prize
(1)Posters agree that if they are awarded prizes for their works as a result of our consideration, the Company will send them notifications to their e-mail addresses registered in the application form by them.
(2)The Company may exclude a poster from prize recipients or cancel a prize to him/her if his/her posted work, application information, etc. involves imperfection or fabrication, etc., or if a poster is found to be ineligible on other grounds by us.
(3)Please understand and agree in advance that depending on situations, contents of prizes may be changed or prizes may not be provided.
(4)Posters awarded a prize are not allowed to transfer the right to receive the prize nor to exchange, refund, convert into cash, resell, etc. the prize.
4. Handling of Personal Information
(1)Please understand and agree in advance that in the Contest, user names, etc. of posters will be made public on the Contest homepage, etc. to the extent necessary for the Contest. We will not use other personal information of posters for purposes other than making contact regarding posted works or sending prizes, etc.
(2)The Company may entrust a trustee with tasks including the handling of personal information (sending prizes, etc., considering works, etc.) to the extent necessary for holding the Contest. Please understand and agree that due to unavoidable reasons, the trustee may contact posters directly.
(3)As for the handling of personal information in general, we will abide by our personal information policy.
5. Disclaimer
Posters will participate in the Contest with their own responsibilities and burdens. The Contest may be suspended or cancelled without any notification in advance. The Company will not be responsible for damages caused by their participating or not being able to participate in the Contest, whether the damages are direct or indirect. The Company will be exempted from responsibilities for disputes between posters and other third parties caused by their participating in the Contests.
6. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
The Terms of Participation is governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Japan and the Tokyo District Court will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute regarding the Terms of Participation as the court of first instance.
